DescriptionWatched FF a few days ago and enjoyed it, so posting this piece featuring 2 dudes who got their start in that book. Y’all know I like me some BP, and I’ve wanted a faceoff piece of him vs Namor, so here we are! I’ve always loved the interplay between these 2 in part because they both share being Marvel Universe monarchs. Throw in Doctor Doom (who they’re up against in this arc) and there’s the royal trifecta.Here, a classic “vs” cover image yet the eventual team-up on the inside :) Jane Foster as Valkyrie in the middle trying to break things up and have ‘em turn that energy towards Doom. I really like the contrast of BP in more block B&W inks vs Namor being rendered in more detailed lines. The wave coming up from behind Namor is a nice touch, too. Glad to add to the collection this second piece, and first cover, by Javier featuring my main man T’Challa vs his sometimes ally/sometimes nemesis, the Sub-Mariner. Thanks, KA! Social/Sharing |

He owned the Marvel Panthers
Lovable T'Challa 'cause he never fought this Namor
Gave him a punch, fucking with him in water
But he was gettin' money with the covers of Avengers
He was mixed in a couple inks
Brawl what that trouble brings
Bricks to the royals
And fans to sink sink
Left arm, Subby water tatted
5-year bid up north when Jane had it
Anyway, I felt him, welt him
Put him on lock, beat-belt him
Took him out to 'brainium, welcome
Bitches this petty, that's seldom
He box better than the box he was hell in
I'm I'm fifty three in that order
I call him Javi like warriors
He like it when I get punched
But I like it when he beat Namor
That's top of T'Challa
It's never luck with beginners
I let him play with Valkyrie then tick him off of hot tempers
I'm in the zone
The cover's at me but it's you

The first thing that struck me with this cover was that Javier did a great job with the characters mouths. I've noticed a lot of times artists struggle when they draw open mouths, but this one's great! Awesome layout and drama too, this one makes you want to read the book. Congrats!

Great Garron cover, congrats! I love Jane Foster in the middle of these 2 trying to play things smarter not harder but they look inevitably like they are about to collide in "vs" format.

Great energy and angle! The frozen Celestial Avengers Tower in the brackground is a great addition.

My favourite part of this piece is the camera angle. The dynamic point of view adds so much power to the piece. Jane Foster is a real cutie, too. But how the hell is the Black Panther going to be any sort of match against Namor in hand to hand combat? Woulldn't that be the equivalent to a match up between the heavyweight champ of the world agains any random two year old child? Did BP gain super powers I've not been made aware of? I'm so out of the loop on contemporary stories, how is that Celestial looking character supposed to be Doctor Doom? Aaaagh! A nice, action packed illustration with too many questions for me. Congrats, Kahlil, it looks great with the rest of your BP collection. Oh, and I'm happy you enjoyed the Fantastic Four movie!

Garrón packs so much detail into the composition and it works. The end result is an up close and in your face showdown in the foreground. You know I have my money on BP & KG leaving Namor in their wake! Great cover!

I like to think that Namor is mad because BP rightfully questioned Subby's fashion sense. Who'd have thought that Namor could come up with an outfit that makes me nostalgic for the simple green swim trunks.
