Description

A fifth entry in my "One More Issue" Project commission series, imagining what might have happened if a Golden Age hero and/or title had been given (as the name suggests) one additional issue.

Plastic Man debuted in Police Comics #1 in 1941 and, although his adventures lasted in his own comic until 1956 (albeit with the last few issues being reprints), Police Comics itelf became a cops-and-detectives title in 1950, with issue #103. But what if there had been one more issue of Police Comics starring Plas - and what if, in a cross-company agreement between Quality Comics and DC, Golden Age Superman villain the Prankster had guest-starred in that final story, only to be captured by Plastic Man (with, of course, the help - or possibly hindrance - of Woozy Winks)?

I saw Roger Langridge mention on Bluesky that one character he'd have loved to have worked on was Plastic Man, and I instantly knew he'd be the right artist to deliver this for me. The cover is loosely inspired by Paul Ryan's cover to Fantastic Four #366.

Great cover art, and what an incredible theme for commissions.

Seeing that awesome Paul Ryan cover makes me want to pull that comic out of my long boxes and read it again.

Smooth inking by Langridge to pay tribute the Jack Cole era of early Plastic Man! Anyone working on Plas has to have a high degree of inking skills!
