DescriptionPublished 1990.written by Keith Giffen and Tom and Mary Bierbaum and Al Gordon. The return of Mon-El On Colu, Brainiac 5 is busy with his experiment and is annoyed when interrupted. But true to his nature, he only expresses mild surprise at Mon-El's return from the dead. Brainiac is shown trying to find a cure for Winathoccus Validus which was the 'Validus Plague', a new virus spawned from Darkseid's tampering of Garridan Ranzz's body chemistry. In the aftermath of the Great Darkness Saga, it was revealed that Darkseid had transformed Garridan, one of the twin sons of Garth Ranzz (Lightning Lad) and Imra Ardeen (Saturn Girl), into the monstrous being known as Validus. Darkseid was persuaded by Saturn Girl to restore Garridan to his infant self, but the plague was a lingering remnant of that transformation. Social/Sharing |

Seize the page or die regretting Darkseid you lost
It's empty Mon-El without you here, to many people the plague's over
I see my Legion burn, I feel my memories fade with lines
It's Al Gordon's to worry
These sheets Keith penciled on will undergo our same lost past
It's Calu here, now please just stay for a while
I can move on with you Bierbaums
I Gand you my mortal life, but will it be for Valor?
I'd do anything for a style, holding you 'til our time is done
We both know the plague will come, but I don't want to leave you
I see my Legion burn, I feel my memories fade with time
But I'm too young to worry (a melody, a memory, or Legion picture)
Seize the plague or die regretting the time you lost
It's empty Shadow without you here, too many Mon-El to ache over
Newborn life replacing Validus, changing this Fatal we give in
No Irma needed here so where does Keith go?
Will you take on Brainy tonight, follow me Ranzz the walls of death?
But girl, what if there is no Saturn and Five?

Brainiac 5 wants to keep us all alive! This issue is a banger so far, 5 for 5 with the 9-panel layouts!

Nice storytelling! I like how Giffen broke up the planet scene into two panels.

I like how Giffen uses the top three-panel tier as a segue into this part of the story. Sort of like a TV show coming back on after the commerical break.
