CLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!20x22.75" original heavy illustration board contains pen and ink original art illustration for a page in "Famous Fantasic Mysteries" Volume IV issue #5. September 1942 issue. Illustration by Frank R. Paul (1994-1963) who was an American illustrator of pulp magazines in the science fiction field. A discovery of editor Hugo Gernsback, Paul was influential in defining the look of both cover art and interior illustrations in the nascent science fiction pulps of the 1920s. The Science Fiction Hall of Fame inducted him in 2009. Illustration features three men in gas masks, one unconcious on floor, destroying lab equipment. Void areas at top and bottom often contained text for the pulp story. Storyline "A Brand New World" by Ray Cummings. Lt. aging/wear to board. Bottom left corner has an edge split that was repaired and lower right corner has small bits of edge chipping. Neither of these defects affect illustration at all. Some edge tanning around border. Pen and ink art is clean and would mat very nicely for display. Overall art is Exc.
