DescriptionBehold! The most painful piece of original art I've ever purchased! And yes - it's published, dammit!When Shawn started sharing that he was getting into tattooing, we had a chat that I was going to make it happen whenever he was ready to start offering slots. I have an older tattoo I've had since I was in early 20's and it was time to get an update so this had the added complexity of being a cover-up. We went through a few prelim ideas before finally settling on this one. This was the biggest piece Shawn had attempted to this point and I was more than happy to be the living canvas. And of course the huge bonus of getting tattooed by a comic artist who loves craft is I got to buy the original when the job was done. Another turning point, a fork stuck in the skull
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where's Crystal
So make the best of this test, and don't mask lines
It's not a question, but a session earned in time
Ink's something with tentacles, but in the arm not right
I hope you had the time of your life
So take the photographs, and still frames in CAF minds
Hang it off a delt ink good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on files
For Shawn has worth it was worth all his style

What a crazy interesting and unique piece and project to undertake! Not only for yourself but getting a fellow comic artist to do it and be part of a shared experience. Congrats on the end result! Also, I'm curious what was the original tattoo image supposed to be exactly (kinda hard to see from the faded pic)?

The old tattoo was a Phoenix. Basically 20-year old me saying isn't this cool, bro?!
