Description
A great, sultry sketch of a languid woman by David Wright. It's undated, but likely from the 1940's as it is so evocative of his pinup work from that time. In addition, the note in the bottom left by Wright is a very nice insight into his process. It reads "Apologies for quality of previous sketch. This could be a good one. Eyes could be looking out at you, but I'd prefer it as it is."

This piece was featured on page 184 of Terry Parker’s ‘Sirens: The Pin-Up Art of David Wright’, the definitive examination of David Wright’s commercial illustration and pin-up work.

It's gouache on paper and 12 1⁄4 x 10 inches in size. Initialed by David Wright in the lower left at the right of his comment.

Now THIS is a sweet little preliminary sketch. I love the note he included, likely for the art director.
