Wright, David - O.K. By Me, The Sketch, June 2 (1943)

Another gorgeous David Wright ‘lovely’, but this one very different given its intensely subtle eroticism. In contrast to his more overt presentations of beauty and sensuality, here Wright depicts a young woman taking in her own deeply plunging neckline that provides only the faintest hints of her chest via a small mirror she holds in her delicate, lithe hand. A very unique approach that creates a quasi-voyeuristic capturinig of a personal moment.

This piece, entitled ‘O.K. By Me.’, was a pin-up done in original goauche and included in the June 2, 1943, edition of Sketch Magazine, the British illustrated weekly journal (primarily a society magazine) that ran for almost 3,000 issues from 1893 to 1959.
