DescriptionI’m honestly unable to put into words what it means to have this piece in my collection. It’s a favorite all the way down the line for me. Special thanks to Greg Goldstein who was willing to part with this beautiful painting and Glen at Panel Page Art who handled the transaction.William Stout painted this impressive Cyclops (plus the Dragon and Giant Roc) from The 7th Voyage of Sinbad to use as the cover for his tribute book to Ray Harryhausen from 2003. Stout has done a number of these tribute books including a few to Willis O’Brien who was Ray’s mentor in stop motion animation. The painting ended up in the collection of film director Frank Darabont and was auctioned off by Heritage when Darabont sold off much of his collection in 2019. I missed out on the original auction, but saw that it ended up in another collector’s gallery here on CAF. I had planned on making an offer to the owner in a few months when it popped up for sale on Panel Page Art. Seeing it available was a heart stopper. This hobby is so much about timing and I couldn’t pass this piece up. I knew eventually it would sell to someone like me who wouldn’t let it go. I ended up buying it on the spot and couldn’t be happier with the purchase. Social/Sharing |

Best Cyclops on film ever! Even in stop motion, it bought a charm and totally awed young me. Very nice that Stout added the dragon to bring even more balance to the composition and color.
