Description
Can you believe it's been over a year since I added any Legionnaires art to my collection? What have I been doing with my life???

Thankfully, the recent November Comic Art Live event gave me the chance to set myself straight. Jeff Moy had a booth set up where he was selling Legionnaires pages, so I helped myself to two of them!

This page sees Legion leader Cosmic Boy - who's off on a trip to Saturn's moon, Titan - checking back in on Legion H.Q. and finding poor Triad scrambling to keep things going since the Legion's deputy leader- Leviathan - is also off on a mission. That's really the long and the short of it, which is why this page is the perfect example of one of my favourite parts of Jeff's work: even a page that's nothing but a conversation and some exposition is still an absolute joy to look at. It could so easily be six panels of talking heads all from the same angles, and instead we get so many fun varieties in "shots", and even a bit of visual comedy thrown in there, too. There's the subtle joke all throughout the page that Triad's three selves don't always fit comfortably into a single panel, and then there's panel three, where Cos has to lean back a little from the fervour of Triad's tirade, even though he's not in the same room as her, or even on the same planet.

Jeff's mentioned before that he just can't help but "draw everything" when he works on a page, and you can definitely see that here. There's hardly any empty space in any of the panels, and the both the office on Earth and the room on Titan are fully detailed (and are even designed so differently from each other you could get the impression that they're on two different planets just from the visuals!).

My favourite part of the page - and one of the all-time best parts of collecting comic art - is the silly little notes Jeff (or who I assume was Jeff) left around panel five, to communicate to the colourist which Triad is which. We have Triad Orange, Triad Neutral, and the Fun One.

The Fun One is my fav Triad! I like everything you said about what makes this page interesting from an art and story standpoint for an HQ/Office scene he put in a ton of effort and it shows. Plus their screen game is on point heh. Congrats on the double Legionnaires pickups during CAL!

So much dialogue that it spills over into adjacent panels!

See, that's what I love about it!  It's a super dialogue-heavy page, but Jeff makes sure you actually enjoy having a page-long break for exposition.

They all love their bob hair doo too!  4 out of 4 Moys in comic art recommend Triad pages.

Considering all three Triads have such wildly different personalities, you have to wonder if the bob haircut was something they all agreed on, or just the easiest compromise they could find!

Jeff Moy really put his own creative spin on the Legion

I'd almost say Jeff made this version of the Legion his own.  The team looks its best when he's the one drawing it.

Thanks, Rick!!  :)  I like this one because it's a prime example of how gorgeous Jeff's work was when he started really hitting his stride on the Legionnaires title.
