“Midnight 4” by Sean Mahan

I’ve enjoyed the art of Sean Mahan for years but hadn’t found the piece that just reached out to me and made me want to purchase it. That changed when I saw the in progress image of his painting “Midnight 4” that he was creating for his show “In Phase” at Outre Gallery. As soon as I saw her I immediately signed up for the preview so I wouldn’t miss the opportunities to purchase her if I decided to pull the trigger. When the preview arrived I immediately contacted the gallery about purchasing the piece on time payment and thankfully they agreed so I was finally able to add the perfect painting by Sean to my collection.

If you know Sean’s work you know that most of the time his subjects are of young children and nostalgic technology like old radios and sewing machines. It isn’t often that I have seen him paint young adults and when I saw this beautiful young lady I was immediately smitten. She’s just so lovely with her beautiful blue eyes and short bobbed hair. As with all of his work there is a nostalgia to the piece as we see her wearing a buttoned up blouse that looks like something worn in the 1950s. The diamond pattern is such a wonderful detail and I love the wood grain of the panel coming through the blue background. Such a phenomenal portrait by this amazing artist and one I’m thrilled to finally have in my collection.
