Description
Ooohh, I was staring at this one lots, corner to corner, when it came in. SO much work by Michel went into this commission request. He was excited to tackle Jericho Drumm and it shows.

I was part of the whole process, too. He preferred to go with the newer BV look vs the classic and I was all for it. Whatever gets the ar-teest energized. Plus, I already have a classic clad BV commission by Kyle Hotz (see in my gallery). Then he had a couple different poses and he wanted my input. We liked the same. And there were some other questions as he worked on it, and I appreciated the consideration, but I was all too happy to go with what he wanted to do.

Check out all the layers and the depth exhibited as a result. Tons of different line weights and techniques to provide the different textures, and we got a lot of them here. It’s like the page is moving, swirling, as you look at it. Also in terms of visuals of the different elements…so much going on highlighting BV’s magicks. I love the floating skulls at the bottom and trails following ‘em. Michel took the BV central tenets and Michel-ized ‘em. Tradd Moore’s influence is clear but as Michel evolves as an artist so does his own unique voice. Just look at this. Michel said up to this point he thinks this was his best piece. Who am I to disagree ;)

Thanks, Michel, and I hope y’all like!

Swede dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I've traveled the world for art heaven piece
Melki's art piece cookin' for something

Some of them want to Voodoo
Some of them want to get used Voodoo
Some of Drumm wants to abuse you
Some of them want BV abused

Swede dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I've Tradd all the world and the seven seas
Everybody's lookin' for something

This is so impressive, must've took a ton of planning and amazing vision to execute all the intertwining details. Splendid commission, congrats my friend!

Thanks, T!  A lot did indeed go into Michel planning this one out as well as executing...he went all out and I was there for the ride.

Thanks, man, and all, for the comments!

I was going to comment on the Tradd influence, then saw you mentioned it in your description.  But for all the Tradd elements, there's also a unique artistic voice showing through.  Congrats on the commission!

100%, Kin.  Tradd elements but Michel continues to stretch in terms of his unique sensibilities and I think this is primo example.  No bias ;)

Thanks for the add!

This is an exceptional piece, man. I told Michel as soon as I laid eyes on it that it was my favorite thing he's ever done. I still stand by that and I'm happy (and jealous) it's in your collection.

AWESOME piece, K!  You know how much I love BV (especially in his Sorcerer Supreme digs) and this take on him is spectacular.  Lots of Tradd Moore here, of course, but I also feel a rich vein of Matt Lesniewski running through this, with all of the gradient visual textures (rather than Moore's striking and stark black and white) mixing an intoxicating blend that feels more like a Doctor Voodoo dimensional peek "Into The Mouth Of Madness"...  Those floating skulls are absolute fire, along with the shrunken heads and skulls around his belt, and the small brooch-like, stylized Eye of Agamotto clasping the Cloak of Levitation together.  Beautiful piece, K!  Great pick up!

Ha ha, there was no way YOU weren't going to dig this one as I know we share our like for the Haitian hero!  And as rendered by magnificent Melki?!  Fergedaboutit!  I do see some Allison there now that you mention it, and noting all those elements like you did...Michel poured so much into it.  And I continue to pore over it!  Thanks for the add, Jason!
