Andromeda by Mark Stegbauer

And here's the other piece I claimed from Mark Stegbauer's list during his 30 Days of the 30th Century event! I couldn't get a Brainy without getting an Andromeda to keep him company, now could I?

What's really neat is that, on Mark's list of claim-able Legion characters, he had this slot written down as "Laurel Gand/Kent", which means that there were at least two other "versions" of this character which Mark might have drawn instead, but when he asked me which one I wanted, I of course went with the rebooted/Legionnaires version.

And I'm sure happy I did, because of all the pieces Mark did for the fundraiser, I truly think this was one of the nicest ones! I love the contrasting strength and dynamism in this piece - the strong, immovable pose versus the flowing hair and loincloth. Andy looks like she's about to ruin someone's day and look fantastic while doing it, just as she should. I also love that Mark went with his usual spacescape background for this one, because it pairs perfectly with the starfield in Andy's costume. Sometimes artists will choose to let the costume and space background blend together, but I actually like that Mark kept them separate, here! It lets you get a sense of how good he is with musculature and anatomy.
