Description
Here's another lovely seascape by Mike Hernandez, painted in opaque watercolor (gouache) on location. See the extra images for a glimps at his on location setup and how it's framed. Love Mike's color feel and his ability to capture the scene with an economy of brushstrokes.

Thanks for taking a look!

Okay, this is too weird of a coincidence.  Had lunch today with an old friend I hadn't seen in a while.  During our conversation he happened to mention that he and his wife were taking off for a getaway to Pismo Beach next week.  Only been to Pismo once in my entire life but I have a great memento of the trip in the form of a gorgeous sunset photo.  Anyway, loving the textures here.

Really nice plein air piece, but did you buy him out of everything he owns?

He paints several pieces a day, so I'd need a much better paying job to wipe him out lol

I think he just takes the class so he can buy these pieces.

Another great one !!   I like being able to compare the actual scene to the artist's interpretation. It must be tough to be in the open with the breeze blowing on the board and drying out the paints.

He extracted the essence from that rock and turned it into paint.

Not pictured under the water are many of my father's errant golf balls.

Another stunner from Mike. IMO his Seascapes are the best. His chuncky brushstrokes are perfect for rocks. Love seeing a process pic, nice add to the collection.
