Max Fiumara - Marvel Girl and Cyclops - OAX '26

Max has been on my watchlist for a long time, but I never locked in for a commission opportunity. That's what's great about OAX because you can get great pieces but also meet the same great artists behind them.

Everyone is familiar with his Spider-Man and Juggernaut piece, which was the piece that kept playing over in my mind. I asked for something with the same energy as the Juggernaut piece. I think this piece is a true standout. Jean is tearing through the debris like she's surfing on a wave, and energy looks so beautiful. I love how Max creates the circular form with the debris as well. Like I've said before, I really love that Marvel Girl outfit. Scott is perfectly stalwart, and the Astonishing costume is terrific. I love the protective hand, but it's not needed because Jean is so powerful. The characters are strong, commanding the piece, but the destroyed sentinel draws your eye everywhere. I think Max stands out with his ability to draw you around with strong forms, but also with intense detail.

The action is intense. There's so much movement conveyed in the piece. It's superb.
