Description
Exquisite little cover piece by Richard Powers for the book by Horace Coon (Signet, 1958). Powers frequently painted some covers nearly 1:1 back in the 50s. I'm guessing if the time/budget weren't much he painted fast and small! But some of these little SF pieces are among my faves from him.

So good!  Love the cratered & undulating earth, ruined skeletal cityscape, bubbly ship with multiple rockets and a couple beaks, and the low bleary sun.  The color feel and the lean to the ground and city really set the mood
