The Sub-Mariner #1 Cover Recreation

Here’s my tribute to John Buscema’s classic cover to the first issue of the 1968 run of one of Marvel's oldest charcters. Original inks by Sol Brodsky. Pencil, sable brushes, dip pen and India ink on 11.5” x 17” aged Bristol board with reproduction stats, rubber cement staining, editorial notations and more.

As with all my other recreations this was created by hand with methods as close as possible to how the original was made including using vintage supplies and tools whenever available. Multiple levels of anti-fraud measures are incorporated into the work as well to deter it from being used in any sort of nefarious way. See the my website's FAQ for more info.
