Description

The early issues of the 1985-1986 Tony Isabella & Richard Howell Hawkman series was the pinnacle of the Hawks' publication history for me so I am always happy to pick up another page.

Hawkman had an interesting rogue's gallery in that many of his major enemies did not appear often - Byth, Shadow Thief, the Manhawks and, in this case, Lionmane (what a name!) were never very well developed after their initial appearance but I still love them for their Silver/Bronze Age qualities.

Richard Howell had several inkers through the run, with Don Heck on inks here, but his portrayal of the Hawks was always top notch for me in terms of their anatomy, wings and the helmets which some artists have struggled with.

Love that I have the follow up page after this one as well, after that close up!

Thanks! I keep trying to cut back some but then something pops up that is irresistible (it was hard not to go after that Al Milgrom Rom cover with Power Man & Iron Fist!).
