Krakow by Marco Galli

This piece is part of a larger collection of comic art sketch cards that represent friends I have met along the way in the comic art hobby. Some were chosen because the collector seriously focuses on that character, and others simply because I noticed a piece in their gallery and wanted to see a sketch card interpretation of that character. I decided not to name names, leaving the collection open to interpretation, since it reflects the community as a whole and the shared connections that make this hobby meaningful. Each card is a tribute to the friendships formed, the generosity of fellow collectors, and the joy of discovering characters through someone else’s passion.

Marco Galli did an excellent job with this piece. Although I am not well versed in art techniques, you can tell this card was done with a medium different from the others. It really pops and is such a fun rendition of Krakoa.

This piece was inspired by a collector I met early in my collecting. He and I were both making a stop in Vegas, and a local crew of collectors invited us out to The Golden Tiki, which is a must visit for anyone passing through Las Vegas. This collector happened to be traveling with an absolutely gorgeous Arthur Adams piece he had recently picked up, which featured Krakoa. That is the reason Krakoa appears here. I even got a sneak peek at the piece, and I am pretty sure there is a photo of me with it floating around somewhere.

Our paths have crossed by chance in multiple regions of the United States, which makes him a staple of my collecting experience. I really appreciated the time he visited my hometown, when we went out to lunch with a group of collectors and were able to talk about family and travels. We have bonded at late night OAX patios, and I especially enjoyed being apart of the shenanigans at the first OAX auction with him. Until we meet again at another event.
