Wheelie The Wild Boy by Rafael Gumboc

This piece is part of a larger collection of comic art sketch cards that represent friends I have met along the way in the comic art hobby. Some were chosen because the collector seriously focuses on that character, and others simply because I noticed a piece in their gallery and wanted to see a sketch card interpretation of that character. I decided not to name names, leaving the collection open to interpretation, since it reflects the community as a whole and the shared connections that make this hobby meaningful. Each card is a tribute to the friendships formed, the generosity of fellow collectors, and the joy of discovering characters through someone else’s passion.

Rafael absolutely crushed this piece. The colors are incredibly vibrant in person, and this sketch card exceeds every expectation for this character. It definitely came out as one of the top-tier cards from the lot.

This card was inspired by a collector who has been an integral part of my collecting experience. We met during my first comic art outing in San Francisco, have been to numerous local gatherings together, and have crossed paths at countless conventions. We lived it up at the first OAX penthouse party and have been discussing the minutiae of comics ever since we first met. He is an absolute wealth of knowledge when it comes to comics, and like many collectors before me, I finally utilized his expertise for the first time this past year, which became a milestone in my collecting journey. This collector is the  champion of Wheelie, and I had the pleasure of seeing this piece displayed next to some of his original art during the holidays.
