Before there was the iconic image of a road leading into an almost infinite landscape became part of the American zeitgeist, there was Mitchell Funk, experimenting with similary visual concepts of roads leading distant horizons with glows of light.
The present work was is self portrait shot a year before the iconic movie was released. In the early 1970s Funk published other iterations of the Roads to Destiny concept but he was not asked to work on the fabled Speilberg movie.
