By the book! A tense portion of the story and a great example of Higgins color work on Killing Joke.

This house of horrors sequence by Higgins proved his worth with great daring nightmarish images as arranged through the vision of the Joker's madness.
Is it colour over a stat?
First there is a blueline of the inks printed onto the paper with the colors applied directly onto it, then with a transparent overlay with the blackline of the inks sitting on top. At that point, they phtograph the page for the final printing. Bit of a different process than a standard colorist just choosing the color to be used in field. On my DKR color plates, I have photos of the colors without the overlay, if you want to see what the painter sees.
