Great page by a classic art team on a classic storyline from a classic run of a great character.

C'mon, Tony. Take her alternative suggestion of relieving stress!

More allegedly censored dialogue by Tony from this arc. follows.."Ish jush a drink. A lickle drinky poo. I'm not schdrunk. Schober old me, Tone eh Starck".

Panel sevens original dialogue by Tony apparently read, "Shex? Is she inshinuatin shex? "

That last panel is the most powerful foe Tony has ever faced.

The middle tier reminds me of the romance comics of the 70s. Classic page.

She's gotta rub more than a bottle if she wants Tony to stop drinking...

She's rubbing more than the bottle. She's rubbing his hand!

This page is really revelatory. We find out in panel three the reason for Tony's sparse lovelife. Apparently business makes him hard! He said it, not me. Must make him a staff nightmare when he is in board meetings, or making deals. It also explains his drinking. He can't handle it and neither can the ladies.

I don't know if it qualifies as ironic that a low point for Tony Stark turned out to be a high point in the history of the series. Wonderful page by an Iron Man dream team (maybe the Iron Man dream team) from the classic arc where the personal drama was more interesting than the IM/hero elements.
I have the previous page, BTW!

Despite the opulence of the setting and the clothes, there is something very mundane about the sequence - the relaxed, casual expressions, the familiarity of a restaurant table, the blandness of the conversation. That lends so much more power to the final panel's confrontation, in dialogue and visual representation, of the real problem that needs to be addressed. Nice, delicate storytelling with a cinematic feel.

Marvel missed out on major product placement money by not putting a brand label on the champagne bottle.
