Description

I've long wanted a Starman page since I got into the hobby. "The Queen and the Commoners" from Starman #8 would have been the second issue of Starman I was able to nab off of a Quick Stop Spinner Rack. I had previously picked up #5 which was a Invasion Tie-In because I recognized Firestorm from the Legendary Super Powers Show.

Some podcast buddies of mine have compared Lady Quark to Maxima, and she's basically the Maxima to Will Peyton's Starman in this issue. Roger Stern also wrote Action Comics #651, so it's not a stretch. Also, I'm pretty sure this was my introduction to Crisis On Infinite Earths. She shares her backstory with Peyton and naturally as a character created for the Crisis, the flashback panels reference the maxi-series that forever changed DC Comics. So, a Starman page from the Spinner Rack -- with Starman, Lady Quark AND the Anti-Monitor?!?!?! What's not to love?!?!?

Great Crisis adjacent panels!  The layout is dense like it was from the 70's.

Solid work by Tom Lyle, one of the unsung talents of the 1990s who left us too soon.

You outlined everything that makes this page highly appealing to huge DC afficionados such as yourself, plus it being your 2nd spinner rack issue of Starman you recall getting adds an extra layer of nostalgia. If you've been after a Starman page for awhile, patience paid off with a good one! congrats.
