How To Create a Painting - step 1

Terry uses live models at times, but most frequently works from photos, and sometimes does re-imaginings of other artists' work. Sometime the commissions are Frankenstein-ed together using the best possible reference to achieve the desired effect.

Terry begins his paintings with the outline of the figure(s) in the commission.

Terry's work is done almost exclusively in pastels, like Weird Tales artist Margaret Brundage. The pigments used in pastels are the same as those used to produce oil paints; the binder is of a neutral hue and low saturation. The color effect of pastels is closer to the natural dry pigments than that of any other process.
