Description

The first piece of Dave Stevens artwork I ever bought was the finished version of this cover. It was traded away to a good friend over a three-way deal involving an art dealer that netted me an Alex Raymond piece. Unfortunately for me, the Raymond was ultimately proven to be a hand-coloured print rather than an original piece of artwork. So I was out the Stevens cover in exchange for a handcoloured print! Needless to say, I've never gambled on buying another piece of "art" from this particular dealer. This preliminary version was much more happily obtained from Kelvin Mao in December 2007. Thanks Kelvin!

Again, this is an Incredible prelim! I got my first job cleaning out cabs in Jr. High, so I could join Wood's fan club. Let me know if you are ever in need to part with this, Ray!

What a story you reveal in your description. Who was the dealer? Slightly worse than the dealer who got several thousand from me without giving anything in return.
