DescriptionWatchmen's Silk Spectre II.Ever since I read Strangers in Paradise (only last year I should add - I know, I suck) for the first time I've wanted Terry Moore to do a commission for me. Therefore, one of my main objectives at SDCC'08 was to seek him out and ask him for one. I hit up the Abstract Studio booth Thursday to ask Terry if he could do a con-commission for me. Terry wasn't there, but his lovely and wonderful wife Robyn was and she told me that unfortunately his commission list for the day was closed, but if I came back first thing the next morning I might be added to it if there was room. Said and done. I was primed and ready to go straight to the booth on Friday morning, but with what the traffic was like in the downtown area the shuttle (which I thought would've been a fast ride) took far too long to get from the hotel to the con and I arrived some 35min after the con had opened. Not exactly first thing. Still, I hit up the booth and as it so was, just as I asked Robyn and she told me that unfortunately he was full up for the day Terry wandered into the booth. Robyn told me to hold on for a minute and headed over to him. Not ten seconds later she came back with a smile on her face and said "Okay, he'll add you". I was ecstatic... but, not as ecstatic as I was when I picked the piece up. It surpassed my expectations and as I thanked Terry for a great piece I asked him if he could do another one of the same character, but a "real" commission - with inks and all. And he could! So, with that this piece, though it started out as a "genuine" commission is just a "temporary" until I get the real one in hand, but what a "temporary" it is! Thanks a bunch, Terry and Robyn - I can't wait to get the "real" one! Social/Sharing |
