Lady Death trading card art-Judy Young by Steven Hughes (Chaos! 1997)

Here is a really cool and highly detailed piece by the late great Steven Hughes. Evil Ernie and Chaos Comics were a major departure for me from what I read as a child, so when it came out right in my angsty teens, it spoke to me personally. Steven Hughes and Brian Pulido inspired me with their take on a troubled teen, and I love Steven's work! Prime examples of his work are hard to get, especially cover quality and highly detailed like this.


This was originally published in Lady Death Chromium card set series 3 in 1996. Card #68, featuring Judy Young. It was later published in the comic Lady Death and the Women of Chaos pinup book. (see additional image of the published page) It is signed by Steven at the top and the piece measures a full 11x17 on a hand-cut board (like most Hughes art I have seen) and is cover quality and simply awesome! This is the fantastic, highly detailed artwork you'd expect coming from Mr. Hughes. (check out Evil Ernie hiding in the gutter underneath Judy :) This piece was meant from the very beginning to be a feature piece for the character so a lot of detail and work went into this one, unlike say some random page artwork from the monthly series or something.


Mr. Hughes' "cover art" type original artwork doesn't come up for sale often, so I was thrilled to get this for a decent price!
