Description

Elmer elephant hits the bullseye on this Japanese monkey. The USS Ocklawaha ,deriving its name from a river in Florida, had the dangerous but necessary task of providing fuel to vessels in combat areas. She was later outfitted for carrying potable water for the Marianas operations and to Eniwetok, Ulithi, Guam, Kossol Passage and Leyte Gulf. She delivered water to mostly landing vessels actively engaged in amphibious operations against the Japanese. AWARDS: Two Battle Stars, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, WW II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal. Published in WALT DISNEY'S COMICS and STORIES #45, June 1944.
