Rune Andreasson, illustration, 1960s

Rune Andreasson's (originally Swedish) comic book "Bamse" was probably the first thing I read. And very early on, perhaps as young as six, I remember studying the drawings with an eye for how they were made. I definitely remember it was a drawing of Bamse I was looking at that first made me wonder how it was possible to do lines that were thicker in the middle than they were in the ends - I sure couldn't copy them like that with my ballpoint pen! (Alas, I think it took me years to figure that one out).
Here's what seems to be a fairly early Rune A. (1925-1999) illustration, but already well representing his typical style. An interesting point about this drawing is that it's done on craftint board. It fascinates me that someone in Sweden was using this technique - and yet it remained unheard of in Finland.
