Description

A minor page - No Kamandi, no action, and panel 1 is a little cramped--but on the other hand the portraits in panel 2 are about as sensitive as Jack got in this period, and the page as a whole exemplifies Kirby's prodigious imagination. He's three issues in to a post apocalyptic Huck Finn story with multiple animal civilzations. That might be enough material for some people, but not our man Jack- what this comic needs is a group of radioactive mutant scientists traveling by blimp. And, oh yeah, on the next page they run into a monster from the moon in the subterranean ruins of Las Vegas.

Well, a minor page, indeed, except for the cact tha came out of the hands of the greatest of all time. I like the slow pace. Be happy.

I hope nobody mistakes me-- I LOVE this minor page. How often does Kirby do five panels in a row of a couple guys poking around in the desert? And in the open space I feel his mind working. Ben Boxer and his crew are explorers in line of descent from the FF and the Challengers-- quintessentially Jack.

This page is a great example of SCI-FI adventure storytelling at its best..a Kirby gem..Congrats!!
