Strangely enough, as much as I loved the piece (my favorite character after all), I still walked away without reaching for my wallet. But the whole time, I couldn’t get the piece out of my mind. I actually kept going back and looking at it, the whole time thinking that one of these times I would go back and it would be gone. By the end of the show on Friday, I had had enough with taking chances. I went back, took a good long hard look at it one last time, and then finally reached for my money! Anyway, according to Todd, this was a piece he JUST finished before he left for the convention. He had planned to print up a new banner for his table using this artwork, but unfortunately ran out of time before his trip. Hopefully when I see him at next year’s show, I’ll be greated by the sight of my piece proudly displayed in full color at his Artist Alley table! Stylistically, I think this a big departure from the more cartoony style that most of us are probably used to seeing from Todd. That was the look that initially caught my eye and prompted me to start looking for a nice Nauck piece to add to my collection. I loved his work on Young Justice and figured I’d end up with one of those covers. Then I started to notice this new style popping up in a few CAF pieces that people were posting. As much as I enjoy that cartoony look, I immediately took a liking to this new style of his. I just never imagined that I would end up with a drawing of my favorite character done that way. Whoopie!!!!! My thanks to Todd and Dawn for being so warm and friendly. And of course for breaking the ice with my first purchase of the show. I don’t think I could’ve picked a nicer way to start. Congratulations Eric, I have to agree that this is a jaw-dropping image of Spidey, and although I am not familiar with Todd's work, I don't need to put on a stronger pair of glasses to see that he has nailed the pose, as well as the intricate use of Spidey's webbing! Just a great piece !!!!

Wow, there are few people's galleries that I think Spidey pieces look good in that aren't mine, but you're one of them. Great pick-up!

As always Eric, I love the background stories that we get to hear when you post and as most would probably agree, we've all definitely been in that indecisive mode far too many times to count when considering a purchase. Unfortunately, a lot of times the waiting ends up being our own worst enemy. Here, in this case for you, I'm glad to hear it worked out. It would have been a shame if it had slipped through your fingers. Congratulations on this great piece Eric...it was meant to be. ;)

Yeah, I've been on the losing end of that thought process more times than I'd care to remember. It's much more fun when it turns out this way! Thanks for the comment buddy!

While I loved Todd's early, animated style, it's always great to see an artist break out in a new direction artistically. I've met Todd at NYCC and he is very fan friendly. Nice addition to your collection Eric. Cheers! N.

This is awesome! He has always been solid but Wow, this really elevates Nauck out of the "Marvel Adventures" realm he had seemed to be hovering in. Simply fantastic.
