DescriptionTo call Osamu Tezuka a god would almost be an understatement. There is not a comparable figure in North American or European comics to him, the closest parhaps being Herge and Disney. To most people around the world he is known as the creator of Atom or Astroboy. Astroboy manga is a lot more complex than the television show but really only scratches the surface of an impressive career. He touch adult and deeper concepts with his more important works like Phoenix, Buddha, Black Jack and Adolf to name just a few. His characters were cartoony, his themes deep and challenging, his views humanitarian and his work uncompromisable. Tezuka used a troop of actors of sorts. He had many reoccurring actors in different roles so they may look the same but they were in a sense acting in a different capacity. Here we see one of his more famous reoccurring cast members.Today I add an small piece, a scrap of sorts of his work to my unworthy collection.

This is from an early SF series he created and shows, Ricky, the titular "Zero Man." He is a member of an underground race of intelligent squirrels known as the Zero Men. The Zero Men plan to kill all humans and take over the surface, but Ricky, who was raised by humans, decides he must stop them.

And P.S.
Your being much too humble. Your collection is most worthy indeed. Congratulations.

Gorgeous--it's like a piece of Pop Art. I would frame that and hang it proudly next to my Roy Lichtenstein and my Sigmar Polke. (If I had a Lichtenstein and a Polke, never mind this particular piece." If you ever get a Texuka you like better let me know as I'd love to own this one. Great work. And the "scrap" nature of it is, to my mind, one of the strongest aspects.
