Description

The end of the line for Ernie Bushmiller. This absolutely terrible late strip (September, 1981) is at least the third re-use of the same gag, first used in the 1940s. It is highly unlikely Bushmiller drew this himself. This is probably by either Mark Lasky or Will Johnson, Bushmiller's assistants. This really shows that you can mimic Bushmiller but never achieve his greatness, even with his supervision. Note the completely misunderstood pose in the first panel and the bad polka-dotting on Nancy's skirt, the feeble sundae (it's a soda in previous versions of this gag) in the last panel, as well as overall weakness in the draftsmanship and composition.
