Description
One of my favorite frame designs that was well worth it. This piece was originally done for the alternate cover to Ascension #11. At the time, there were a few covers being altered for reorders on several Top Cow comics. All of the different books were having Darklings (that were drawn by Marc Silvestri) added to the covers. For the Ascension cover, Marc drew this Darkling on a large canvas board and Dave painted over his pencils creating the piece you see here. After looking at it, I knew I wanted the frame to keep an 'ancient' type of feel. So, I picked out some velour matting and had them cut to reflect the Darkling standing pround on the hill side, with accents of rubble around his feet. I then imported a heavy wood frame from Italy to cap off that 1000 year old look. Put together, this is one solid frame. It weighs a ton, but definitely looks incredible hanging on the wall.

That's one of the nicest frame jobs I've seen. I remember buying this book, the cover knocked my socks off, though I always though Dave also penciled the Darkling. guess you never stop learing =)

Not only is this piece amazing, but I love the frame as well!! I really enjoy seeing how other people display their art and this has got to be one of the best displays I've seen to date! Thanks for sharing!
