Description
Update Veteran inker Gary Martin (Blue Devil, Doom Patrol, Nexus, the Moth) has re-drawn and completed this piece in ink. This version is done on a new piece of paper. I asked Gary to finish the drawing, fix a few issues (i.e., the Thing was missing a toe on each foot), and add the villainous Living Eraser in the background. I am really pleased with the result. I highly recommend Gary Martin's commission services to other collectors. Contact Gary Martin via his gallery right here on CAF.

Previously...

Arvell called this a "sketch", but I think it is too nice for that... According to the letter he wrote, Arvell was feeling badly that I had to wait one *entire* month to get my commission done. To "make it up to me" (which, obviously, he did NOT have to do) he did this 11 x 17 drawing on sketchbook paper and sent it along with the more detailed commission he'd also completed.

This "sketch" is based on the characters found in Marvel Two-in-One # 15 (originally drawn by Arvell)... the Thing and Morbius the Living Vampire.

Nice, I've become a fan of Gary's work and anyone who questions what an inker brings to the table simply has to look at this and they'll understand. I am very glad he "evolved " Ben's look into the more Kirby/Sinnott look as opposed to say the earlier Kirby/Ayers look.

What Michael said! Gary is what they used to call "embellisher", not just an inker. I like the change to Morbius's face as well. I highly reccomend Gary for inking commissions too!

I like both versions for different reasons -- the raw energy of the Arvell Jones original, the rich detail of the Martin retooling. Nice!
