DescriptionThis is the original cover art to What If #34, published by Marvel Comics. This is a classic homage to the legendary Marilyn Monroe Seven Year Itch upskirt image with the dress blowing up, with The Watcher playing the role of Marilyn!!! I think this is the coolest What If cover ever done, particularly considering the fact that the artwork is by the legendary artist John Romita Sr. Another thing that's great about this piece is that it is drawn 100% on Marvel art board. Many of Romita's pieces over the years were done on vellum, and then pasted onto board. Not this piece. It is done in the standard way, and has all of the original logo stats attached. The 'NO ONE WAS WATCHING THE WATCHER?' text is on a plastic overlay. One more cool thing, the change to the Watcher's face in the top left corner logo box (adding funny nose and glasses) is actually done directly on this piece. So they used the same stat that is used on all the issues, but this one has actual art added to it for the comedic effect. Awesome!Social/Sharing |

OMG! I was always so busy laughing at the image of the Watcher doing the Marilyn bit, I never even noticed the funny nose and glasses up in the corner!
