DescriptionFaith Domergue was another sultry brunette from the 1950's. She was born in New Orleans in 1924 and "discovered" by a Warner Brothers talent scout in 1941 at the age of 17. In May of that year, she attended a studio party on a yacht owned by Howard Hughes. Hughes, twenty-one years older than Faith, became infatuated with her and bought out her contract from Warner Brothers for $50,000, signing her at RKO, instead. This meeting was actually a scene in the movie, The Aviator, with Leonardo DiCaprio playing Hughes. Hughes paid for Faith to take lessons to perfect her diction and acting but their on-and-off romance ended in 1943 following Hughes's affairs stars Lana Turner, Ava Gardner and Rita Hayworth. She also starred in a lot of B-movie westerns but is remembered for her roles in the film noir Where Danger Lives (1950), opposite Robert Mitchum as well as a trio of sci-fi/horror films including This Island Earth (1955), Ray Harryhausen's It Came from Beneath the Sea (1955) and Cult of the Cobra (1955). Steve used a still from Vernon Sewell's Spin a Dark Web (1956), where Faith played the queen of the London underworld, as the inspiration for this commission. Social/Sharing |

Rude is a master. This series of Sci-Fi actresses is a wild idea and worked well. Looks like Rude really took to the concept!!
