Description

Given that my collection is almost entirely character-focused, I rarely purchase an existing piece that features a character with whom I'm unfamiliar.

I made an exception for Al Rio's striking action scene featuring Rob Liefeld's (ouch -- it makes my fingers hurt just to type that name) "bad girl" Avengelyne. Something about a warrior woman swinging a sword speaks to me, I guess.

Master inker Bob Almond, who excels at this sort of thing, took the late Mr. Rio's preliminary sketch and transformed it into a finished work of power and beauty.

A bittersweet experience enjoying this great art by Al and Bob and knowing we won't be seeing any new ones in the future. RIP Al Rio, a great amazing talent.
