A page that just screams out old school!

Ive been looking to snag something from 2000ad's first year of publication, so to have gotten this incredibly early Dredd page, makes me very happy indeed.

Not quite the first Dredd epic (the Cursed Earth has that distinction), but The Robot Wars was the first Dredd strip to feature an extended storyline, and was drawn by a host of talent - Ron Turner, Carlos Ezquerra, Mick McMahon, and Ian Gibson.
The Robot Wars ran for 8 episodes in total, and this particular episode served as its direct prequel.

Though perhaps still a work in progress in regards to portraying Dredd and his world, these early strips are just pure gold. And show that Dredd was always a cut above.

Ah! Stunner. My first progs were 8 & 9, and this page is burned into the brain. A personal favourite of mine. Well done to get this!
