DescriptionThis is a a very special piece for me and perhaps the most sentimental piece in my collection. I met the master himself Bernie Wrightson at Long Beach Comic Con back in 2012 and had a great interaction with him. Mr. Wrightson is such a pleasure to speak with and meeting him is probably one of the most memorable experiences I've had in my life. Never would I thought I'd be leaving with more than his signature on my copy of The Roots of Swamp Thing Hardcover that day. During this time I was a student working on a photojournalism project, and later had the pleasure of interviewing Bernie. Some years after that interview it was eventually published in a Swampy fanzine, which I was very excited about because it was never published by the school newspaper I did the project for. While at the show flipping through his portfolio I caught an eyeful of this piece and just thought I had to have it before the convention was over. I absolutely love this image of Swampy rising from the churning murky swamp, and every time I look at it I remember that awesome day I met Mr. Wrightson.Social/Sharing |
