Captain America is mopping up operations at the Power Broker's headquarters when he finds one more augmented enemy to fight: G. I. Max! Meanwhile back in Washington D.C., the Commission is looking for Captain America. (Note: Ms. Marvel's story continues in Fantastic Four 306.)

Is Captain America obsolete? In the final chapter of the Power Broker Saga, the U.S. Army claims he is and to replace him they've created the ultimate super soldier— G.I. Max! Captain America teams up with Ms. Marvel (Sharon Ventura), & the Shroud to take out the Power Broker Curtis Jackson who weighs 600 lbs and is 7'6 for some reason. Lt. Michael Lynch unleashes G.I. Max on Cap and in an attempt to aid G.I. Max Lynch's bullets ricochet off of Cap's shield and go threw Max's neck.

This was one of the first Captain Amercia comics I ever read and even though the idea of Cap giving up the mantle was not new, it still captured my attention as a kid. There is white out on and near G.I. Max's neck that suggest that a lot more blood was drawn and edited out later. Got to love when they introduce a character and kill him in the same book.
