Description

This amazing painting was specially commissioned for the cover of the Iron Man vs. Doctor Doom book in 1994 which collected the great Camelot time travel story from Iron Man #149-#150 as well as the follow-on story from Iron Man #249-#250. The painting's official title is "Duel". 11.5 X 15.5

Like the Boris Vallejo Iron Man vs. Fin Fang Foom painting, this painting also sparkles up close--the colors, details and nuances are just great and can only be fully appreciated in person.

It took some effort and some digging to find and acquire these paintings but given how it sometimes takes long months and even years to acquire a piece, this was relatively quick and of course super-worth it. These pieces are instantly among my favorites. And Boris and Julie are really nice people, it was a pleasure dealing with them. And who knows what other amazing paintings are buried in various storage places and galleries across the country.

Postscript:
In a foreshadowing coincidence, I was at a family member's house a few months ago (cleaning up after super storm Sandy) and looking for something else in the attic when I came across a framed limited edition print of this painting that I had bought in the 1990s and had left it there years ago after one of my many apartment moves. After seeing it for the first time in years, I thought how great it would be to someday own the art but I had never even seen the original art and knew I never would. Now less than 6 months later I actually do! Truth can be stranger than fiction. Of course seeing that print put it in my mind one Sunday to start searching for the art, so in one way there's some cause and effect there. :)
