Description
Another purchase made at Spectrum Fantastic Art Live 2. A "grail" piece for us: "Crowbot" by Jon Foster. This was the cover for Jon's first art book, Progressions; we've also used it as a promotional symbol for SFAL for the past two years on banners, billboards, and the entrance to the exhibit hall. It took a few years of talking with Jon to convince him to part with it, but he knew that we'd give it a permanent home and he brought it with him to the show. We could not be more thrilled!

Funny story: Jon brought a number of pieces to sell, both older paintings and several newer ones from the last year or two. I was standing with a group near the close of SFAL2 and we were talking about what we'd all bought. I said I'd bought a Foster painting; another said, "So did I!"; a third said, "Me, too!" So I smiled and said, "Athos, Porthos, Aramis!" just as a fourth person walked by with a Foster in his hands. The three of us pointed at him and yelled, "d'Artagnan!"

20"x39". Oil on board

When someone says "Jon Foster" this is the image that immediately leaps to mind for me. That is in no small part because of the number of connections it has had to Spectrum. That this piece ended up in your collection seems absolutely correct and preordained. I'm thrilled you've chosen to share it here on CAF as well, so we can all take it in. Thanks so much for doing it.
