Batwoman by
Ron Salas
I’ll be honest; Kate Kane didn’t impress me all that much in her debut in the 52 weekly series. The costume was cool, but I didn’t feel like she’d earned that bat symbol on her chest since Bruce hadn’t trained her or giver her his blessing. But I really enjoyed Greg Rucka’s stories with Kate, and her series now under J.H. Williams and W. Haden Blackman has been pretty great as well. Seeing the training she went through in Batwoman #0 really put her over for me. And now I kind of like that she’s not an official member of the Bat-Family, but wears the symbol anyway. She has guts, I’ll give her that. Anyway, Ron drew me a gorgeous Kate here, standing on a rooftop under the moonlight, ready to swing off into the night. I love the way he drew the cape and the folds in her costume. Hey DC, since J.H. Williams is off of drawing her series for a while, how about letting Ron draw an arc or two of Batwoman when Trevor McCarthy needs a break? Anyway, huge thanks as usual to Ron for another beautiful Bat-commission!
