DescriptionThis fantastic piece of art by Bart Sears was used as the cover for the Program Guide to the Philadelphia Comicfest in 1993. According to an article by Patrick McCallum in Wizard #16, the artwork was originally done as an alternate cover for the newsstand edition of Wizard #8 (they had done something similar with issue #7). The magazine was afraid that potential customers would think that they were trying to get them to buy two copies of the issue however, so they scrapped the idea and ended up re-purposing it as the program cover a couple years later.Besides being an excellent example of Bart's work from the early 1990's (of which I am a big fan), I love the iconic pose shown here with Superman holding the flag (albeit a Wizard flag instead of an American flag). I also included images of the color guide (with colors by Mark McNabb) and the printed Program Guide in the additional images section. Social/Sharing |

Pretty awesome Superman piece by Sears. I've always liked his depiction of Superman and this may be the very best one ! Congrats on this great addition to your collection !

I was at that show in Philly and I still have the program guide. Congrats on getting this spectacular piece of art.
