Wrightson - Change for a Dollar - Christopher Enterprises poster

When I was a young man in either late 1976 or early 1977, I got to meet Bernie Wrightson and this happened to be the first piece of original art I ever saw. So, when I got back into collecting art, this was one of the first pieces I sought after. I've never seen one of the original (heavier paper) signed pieces come up for sale/auction, but when I do... I'll be in there bidding.

However, I ran across this open edition a couple years ago and treasure it for it's great art, but of course... Wrightson's incredibly (somewhat sick) sense of humor.

I've really never seen this anywhere, so for those who have not seen this, I thought it was definitely something worth sharing.

Bernie actually told me, there was some friction created by the Christopher Enterprises group, because they were expecting a painting. In my opinion, having all but drooled on this as I admired the work, it was a painting. A painting done in panel form, but a painting nonetheless.

When I met Bernie earlier this month in Dallas, and showed him this poster and mentioned having met when he had this original with him, he inquired as to when. All I know for sure is it was either very early 1976, or late 76/early 77 because it was frigid outside.

I also told Bernie and Liz how a friend and I got to BS with Bernie for about 15-30 minutes before a group of real art types showed up and started discussing various aspects of his art and other's... Anyway, I mentioned to him how I remembered at one point he looked over at us, as if to say: "I'd really rather just BS"...

Liz shared a smile, and said "That sounds like Bernie"... :)

He graciously signed this for me, and though it may not be original art, it means a great deal to me!
