Description

In 2007, I stopped by Terry Beatty's table at FallCon in St. Paul, Minnesota. On his table was a paper reproduction of this very cover. "What's that, Terry? Is the original for sale?" Terry told me that this was to be the cover to the new MS. TREE pocketbook novel DEADLY BELOVED, written by Max Allan Collins. Terry told me the original was not for sale -- he was keeping it, "and besides, if I sold it that Collins fella might not let me live to tell the tale..." Well having lusted after this lovely painting for many years, having bought Terry's pencil preliminary for the painting and actually commissioning him to do a pen and ink version of the image, at the end of 2013, Terry finally agreed to let me purchase the original painting.

I am delighted to have this wonderful painting in my collection. Thanks so much Terry!

In the additional images you can see the pocketbook as it appeared, the pencil preliminary for the painting, the pen and ink version of the image, along with a little personalized packing from Terry.

Great piece! I've only met Terry a couple times in person, but always was very nice to talk to.
