hey Jeff, Toby is an underrated talent. I would say when I met him in 03 he had was more Mignola in his style and people with heavy angular spotted blacks, like Toth. l BUt I think his biggest influence was Tony Salmons. I have a sketchbook where he put his influence as graphitti in the background. When i spoke to him recently he mentioned Zaffino with all his textures. I think that loosening up and exaggeration in the figures has been great. I would check out the books BLue estate and Rodd Racer which really showcase his art and storytelling well. And he has a new one from Dark horse, white suites coming in Feb. Glad he is on your radar now.

you absolutely should. It is such a large piece, I think a lot of the character is lost in the little online pics. Toby's energy in his drawing is palpable, and here it is unusually the background that brings those dynamics to the static iconic representations of the figures. A really unique twist.

Saying that this is amazing or stunning is such an understatement. Cypress illustrated such a breathtakingly wonderful tribute to an amazing movie. Congratulations on having this artwork in your collection.
