Description
Michael Kaluta ranks at the top of my favorite artists. I've loved his work since first seeing the wonderful Carson of Venus adaptation decades ago. Michael puts you squarely into whatever world he is creating. Living breathing worlds. I can think of no other artist who does this like Kaluta. You feel as if you are actually experiencing the story with the protagonists. Architecture, machines, clothing, landscapes, and characters are rendered in exquisite detail. Michael's Shadow work has become legendary. When Marvel reunited him with Dennis O'Neil in the 80's, for a Shadow opus, I was thrilled. The Shadow would be crossing swords with the ultimate villainy of the Third Reich. The original plan had Bernie Wrightson inking the story, but it fell through. Golden Age great Russ Heath came aboard to provide the inks. while not the same as a Kaluta/Wrightson collaboration, I love the art. I bought these pages many years ago, and have enjoyed them ever since.

Thanks Dave. As a History/WW2/Shadow buff, I still can't believe my good fortune in owning it.

Alan, Sorry for the delay in responding to your gracious comment. Michael is at the top of my favorites list. Is there anything he can not bring to life with fantastic depth. This page sets the stage for a fantastic Shadow tale. Congratulations on your own Shadow collection. You have many remarkable pieces. Great stuff by many wonderful artists. Jim

Nils, Thanks for your kind comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It is amazing to follow the story set up by this title page. Michael did a great job capturing the characters, both fictional and historical. An overlooked Shadow opus. I feel very fortunate to have it in my collection.
