Dans ton cou, je retrouve mon coeur by Dominque Fortin

Quebecois artist I have been following for 5 or 6 years. I bought this one last fall and it is my first. When I first saw her work she was going these large paintings with images of girl in fantasy settings like being dressed as princesses on carousels and horses. I was quite take by her work and followed her career. She uses images of her children and as they are growing older, her themes are evolving too. The most recent show was both an evolution in her work but in many senses a depiction of evolution as her girls turn into young women. I met her. She said that her one daughter reminds her a lot of herself and so there is a strong autobiographical aspect to all these works too. Some of the other pieces in this show had a metamorphosis them but I chose this one as it was a nice transition piece with elements of both her current and past work. I bought it for a different spot in the house but once in that spot it didn't quite work but it has found a home now. This is a fairly large piece at 40 x 40 inches.
